156.   BUILDING CODES

(A) Reflection of State Law.

(1) The City of Sour Lake hereby codifies state law by reference, for clarity in development, rules and regulations for the construction, alteration, removal, demolition, equipment, use and occupancy, location, and maintenance of buildings and structures, that certain building code which is adopted by the State of Texas as the minimum standard.

(a) The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractors program currently adopts the 2018 IMC, IRC, IFGC.

(b) The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has adopted the National Electric Code 2023 Edition, as it existed on August 25, 2022 and as adopted by the National Fire Protection Association, Inc. It became effective September 1, 2023.

(c) The Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners currently adopts the 2018 IPC, UPC, IRC, and IFGC.

(d) The 2015 IECC is promulgated through the Texas State Energy Conservation Office (SECO) by administrative rule.

(e) Additionally, referencing 10.08 of this ordinance, the following codes that are referenced shall extend and apply to the section referred. This includes, but is not limited to the 2018 IBC, 2018 IEBC, and the 2018 ISPSC.

(2) From the date on which this section shall take effect, the provisions thereof shall be controlling the construction, alteration, repair, removal, demolition, equipment and maintenance of all buildings and other structures within the corporate limits of the city..

Sour Lake Ordinance | Section 10.08  REFERENCE TO OTHER SECTIONS.

Whenever in a section reference is made to another section hereof, the reference shall extend and apply to the section referred to as subsequently amended, revised, recodified or renumbered, unless the subject matter is changed or materially altered by the amendment or revision.
